New LED Uplighting This Month! 07/07/2010
We strive to offer our customers the most current technology in audio and lighting. We've offered LED Uplighting for a few years but I'm excited to announce the purchase of 12 more LED par uplights this month. Each LED lighting fixture allows us to match any of a million colors. Customers can actually select their color from a pallet (similar to pallets used in paint stores). We simply dial the RGB code into one of our DMX lighting controllers and we achieve perfect color matching. I'll be using all 12 of them at Sarah and Tim Buckley's wedding on July 17th of this month. I also created a custom gobo for a monogram light on their dance floor. I'll be sure to post photos of their reception. It should prove to be one of the most beautiful lighting designs we've created in 2010! Add Comment Perhaps you already know the perfect songs for your reception. Maybe you have a celebration that requires ethnic or other specialized music. Kellinghaus Entertainment will stay true to your vision and provide any music you desire. But what if you don't have a vision? Let us help you create one. Weddings should be about family and friends getting together, enjoying each other's company, and celebrating a life-changing event. Although they have gathered for the same reason, there will be many friends, relatives and guests with different musical preferences. We would like to please all of them and we can do this if we enlist the help of three musical experts: you, your guests and your DJ. You are the first musical expert. After all, no one knows what your favorite songs are better than you. Perhaps there are songs that have a family history. You might still remember your old sorority or fraternity's favorite song... or you may know the one and only song that Uncle Harry will dance to. The music you choose for yourselves peronalizes your celebration. Your guests are musical experts as well. They know what they like. Some of them may even have a good idea of what you like. Consider allowing them to make a few requests at your reception. Then let the experts at 513DJ Kellinghaus Entertainment offer suggestions, provide popular song choices and pull details together. An average DJ plays music. An extrordinary DJ reads the dance floor... he plays a song that fills the dance floor and immediately thinks of ten more songs guests will likely respond to based on that one song choice. In this way, we can achieve harmony even though we have different groups of people. When we think of the word "harmony" we tend to imagine everyone thinking and acting alike. But consider a song that has three part harmony. What makes the music so impressive is that everyone is singing different parts. Three different parts come together to make one beautiful sound providing a once in a lifetime event for you and your guests. So when choosing music for your reception, tell your DJ you want three part harmony. Author: DJ Tom Anstead Repost from October 22, 2008 Hundreds of DJs from all over the world gathered in Chicago on July 14th, 15th and 16th, 2008, to share and learn at the Mobile Beat DJ Convention. Ryan Kellinghaus and Tom Anstead are DJs with 513DJ.com, a service based in the greater Cincinnati area. They made the trip to learn, meet other DJs and check out new technology. Nationally known speakers from within and outside the DJ Industry (like Jay “Guerilla Marketing” Levinson) were on hand to give attendees the best possible DJ educational experience. It was Ryan's third national convention. He attended shows in Las Vegas and Orlando but said, "This was a real learning experience. Tom and I knew exactly what we wanted. We had a list of specific gear we wanted to check out and we wanted to network with DJs from around the world. We didn't want to miss an educational opportunity like this. There's no better way to improve as a DJ." They discussed the hottest topics in the biz, tried out the latest high tech gear, partied with DJs from all over the world and ate lots of pizza (hey it's Chicago right?). Tom purchased an X Laser and commented, "We want cutting edge technology. Our customers notice. The problem is that it's not easy finding the best gear without getting hands-on and seeing it for yourself. I've always wanted a good laser but I didn't want a little 5 milliwatt flash and trash effect. I wanted something powerful. I wanted a jaw dropping effect and I found it. It diffuses hundreds of lasers that dance to music and light up an entire room. It's the kind of thing that you have to see to appreciate, especially when you are spending $700 on a light that is only the size of a loaf of bread." The highlight of their trip was dinner with Glenn Schroeder, a Chicago based DJ and Bose rep. Ryan added, "Glenn was great and he introduced us to some other DJs. I learned a lot from him. He set up a special demo so we could check out the latest Bose speaker systems. I bought two systems and now offer this technology for my customers. I never would have had the opportunity if we hadn't made the trip to Chicago." FREE custom song for special moments 06/10/2010
So you want your wedding reception to be different, nothing cliche, nothing overdone, elegant but distinct. You want something exciting and new. I just started humming the Love Boat theme. But really, you want to create unique nostalgic moments with traditional events but you also want to be original. You've been to too many weddings and had deja vu. It was as though the only change was choice of color, table linens and maybe a few songs. You are determined to make your guests say, "Wow, that's great. I've never seen anyone do this at a wedding. I have to do that at my wedding." Imagine you've just cut your wedding cake. As your DJ invites you to the dance floor for your first dance everyone tears up as they hear a beautiful song with your personal message to each other. Sounds expensive right? Not in the least. Kellinghaus Entertainment and DJ at 513dj.com offers this service for free to all customers. That's right, FREE! And they make it so easy. Customers simply call a toll free number to record their message. Your recording is then digitally processed and edited, even removing "ands" and "uhms". Once it's processed, it's edited with music to create a unique song. The most popular songs are bride to father, bride to groom and groom to bride. It can also be used for a special out of town guest who can't attend or any special person in your life. It's a unique keepsake when your wedding is over. For more information visit 513dj.com. Contact Ryan Kellinghaus. So why is it important that you learn a little about wireless microphones? You're a bride and that's the DJ's job. If you ask your DJ to provide a wireless microphone, read on. I'll make a complicated topic very simple for you. Wireless microphones come in a variety of brands, styles and technologies. For as little as $50-$75 anyone can pick up a wireless mic at Radio Shack or online, while other retailers charge $500 or more. So what's the difference between a cheap mic and an expensive mic? The complicated answer is brand name, element quality, durability, frequency and technology (UHF, VHF, FM, etc.) but let's break it down to what matters for the average person who simply wants to hear clear announcements at their reception without static or dropouts. Here's the simple answer. I can sum it up in two words... dual diverisity. Everything else aside the best wireless microphones are dual diversity. What does this mean? A dual diversity mic uses the best of two wireless channels. If a channel is lost, it simply switches to the other channel instantly to avoid a dropout. Most dual diversity wireless microphones cost $300 and up. Any DJ who takes his job seriously uses a dual diversity wireless microphone. So when you are talking with your DJ, you don't need to ask what brand he uses or if he uses UHF or VHF. Just ask if he uses a dual diversity mic. If he says he does not use dual diversity or he doesn't understand the question keep searching. *Additional note: Current legislation may change laws governing access to wireless channels in 2009. Your DJ should be aware of these changes and explain how he intends to avoid problems at your wedding reception. The last thing you want are TV, radio or other signals broadcasted over a microphone in the middle of your reception. No wireless technology is perfect but your DJ should take every step he can to reduce the chance of problems occuring at your reception. | AuthorCincinnati DJ Ryan Kellinghaus ArchivesCategoriesAll |
